Committee
We are a small committee, formed to run and promote the society in Malaysia. Our team manages the events, membership subscriptions and day to day administration to ensure we provide the interesting and varied activities to our loyal members.
Our AGM is held during May each year; members are entitled to vote on Society matters.
President
Ray Bolland
Ray has served as President of the Society since 2019, having previously been a committee member in the late 1990s and during the 2010s.
Ray and Melanie have lived abroad since 1990, moving from UK to Hong Kong, then to Malaysia in 1994, Dubai in 1999, Azerbaijan in 2004, before commencing the long return journey, with moves back to Dubai in 2007 and Malaysia in 2010, as members of the MM2H program.
He is a passionate supporter of Tottenham Hotspur FC, was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Rainstack 2014-2019 and has run quizzes on and off for 40 years in a number of countries.
Vice President
Charlie Chelliah
Charlie is International Vice President of Mobberley Cricket Club of Cheshire, Full Member of Marylebone Cricket Club, and Past President of the Royal Selangor Club. He was the first Chief Executive of the Malaysian Cricket Association. Professionally involved with shipbroking, International Air freight and latterly in the quarry and construction industry. Charlie is currently serving as an Advisor to a public listed company .
Secretary
Melanie Bolland
After a 4-year stint as one of Marjorie Proops' response team, plus a 33 year international career with an fmcg multinational company, Melanie Bolland retired to Malaysia in 2010.
Melanie has served as Hon Secretary since 2023 and was previously Chair of ABWM from 2014 to 2016. She is an avid reader, and likes playing Mahjong and baking cakes.
Treasurer
Amarjeet Singh Ghai
Amarjeet is the Managing Partner of AGS Advisory, an accounting and business advisory firm he established in 2005, based in Kuala Lumpur. He completed his studies at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1988 and possesses more than 35 years of professional experience, with 15 years spent working in the United Kingdom.
Amarjeet is is a multitasking maestro of various organisations! Serving as the President of The Malaysia British Society, Deputy Chairman of Malaysia Africa Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Honorary Treasurer and Exco Board member of the Malaysia Cricket Association, and a former cricket convenor of the Royal Selangor Club, Kuala Lumpur. Amarjeet is also a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and a member of the ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant (ASEAN CPA)

Danny Thompson
Hailing from London, Danny started young in the business, washing pots and pans on a Sunday in his dads restaurant. During University days, whilst studying Engineering, extra income was earned working in various bars around Newcastle. After graduation, while job hunting, Danny continued to work bars & restaurants in London. Realising this was his passion, much more than Engineering, he embarked on a full time career in F&B.
After winning numerous awards along the way, including "Timeout London Bar of the Year" Asia beckoned. Danny arrived in Kuala Lumpur and has had many included his latest W1 in Bangsar. He has also moved into restaurant/bar training and consulting.
